When it comes to affordable extracts in the Pacific Northwest, it’s hard to find a better producer than Beehive Extracts out of Portland, Oregon. I consistently find them offering top-shelf Live Resins at half the price of the competitors. On a recent trip into the Rose City to pick up some fire from my favorite dispensary, Americanna RX, I stumbled upon a new cross from Beehive in collaboration with Pacific Grove PDX in the Mendo Cake. To give you a bit of strain lineage background, the Mendo Cake is a cross of two of my favorite all-time strains in the Mendo Breath and Wedding Cake. The Indica-Dominant Hybrid is said to be delicious as well as devastating so I was more than excited to give this one a try.
I decided to go with my Toro Glass Bubbler for this sample and as soon as I opened the jar, I could smell the Mendo Cake’s deep notes of Lemon, Diesel, and Pine. This gear was beyond loud and It completely stunk up my entire living room. As I dug my nail into the resin, I was loving the consistency of this stuff. The Mendo Cake reminded me of a very thick golden sauce that was beyond easy to work with. Once the dab hit the quartz banger, I was smacked in the face with a heavy blow that had me searching for my ice-water as the cotton-mouth was strong. Upon exhale, I could taste her delicious bouquet that had heavy lemon and diesel flavors with that tasty pine finish. Within minutes, I was hammered and wasn’t going anywhere as this gear was a straight one-hitter quitter. I was destroyed on my couch for the next two hours as I cuddled up with my kitty and ended up taking a nap. In regards to my pain and stress, it was non-existent after this session so I highly recommend it for those of us searching for relief.
What can I saw about the Mendo Cake Live Resin other than it was a perfect Indica for a late-night if you catch my drift? When it came to her flavor and pungency, the Mendo Cake left wonderful citrus and jet fuel flavors on my tongue so I gave her a score of 9.5/10. When it came to her strength and potency, this is where she really shined as the Mendo Cake had me ripped for a solid two hours and straight-up put me to sleep. This was one of the strongest strains I’ve had in a while so I gave the Mendo Cake a score of 9.7/10. Overall, I absolutely enjoyed the Mendo Cake and would highly recommend you grab some if you find it in your neck of the woods. Just be warned, this stuff will put you down so be prepared not to get much done.
