When it comes to cannabis strains, not many have garnered the amount of respect that DJ Short’s Blueberry has received throughout the years. Oregon based breeder DJ Short created the strain back in the 1970s but it wasn’t until it took 1st Place at the 2000 High Times Cannabis Cup that it gained its notoriety. Since then it has been used in countless hybrids that are household names such as Blue Dream and Berry White. Recently, on a trip to my local dispensary, I came across a new hybrid in the Dj Short Blueberry X Blueberry Diesel Terp Slushee from Dorado Extracts out of Washington State, for $25 a gram, that I just had to sample.
I decided to go with my Mobius Glass bubbler for this one and as soon as the jar was opened, I was hit in the face with heavy notes of skunk and blueberries with a hint of jet fuel. My first impression of the DJ Short Blueberry X Blueberry Diesel was positive as the Slushee had the consistency of a thick syrup and was beyond easy to work with. I grabbed myself a large-sized dab of the sauce and once it hit the quartz banger, I was able to taste her delicious blueberry, skunk and gas terpenes. This gear was flavorful as I could taste her on my palate well after exhale. As for the stone, I was barely high after the dab as this was not devastating at all. Following a second dab, I felt a slight fade that I would describe as mellow and chill but I was left wanting something heavier at the end of the day. I felt the DJ Short Blueberry X Blueberry Diesel definitely helped to calm my stress and anxiety but it didn’t do a great job of relieving my neck and back pain. I also noticed the high didn’t last long as I was feeling pretty much sober after maybe a full hour.
Overall, the DJ Short Blueberry X Blueberry Diesel Terp Slushee was a tasty strain that sadly fell short when it came to her stoniness. In regards to her taste and pungency, the DJ Short Blueberry X Blueberry Diesel was very flavorful and delivered wonderful notes of blueberries, skunk and diesel with a hint of pine. Her taste lingered on my tongue for quite a while after exhale so I gave her a score of 9.3/10. When it came to her strength and potency, the DJ Short Blueberry X Blueberry Diesel just didn’t have the fade I was hoping for as I was barely stoned after two good dabs, so for that reason I gave her a score of 6.9/10. At the end of the day, the DJ Short Blueberry X Blueberry Diesel Terp Slushee was a bit of a disappointment, especially at a price point of $25. If you see the DJ Short Blueberry X Blueberry Diesel on a shelf near you I would probably steer clear as there are far better options to be had.
