Allen Wrench is the mother of all sativas. The Allen Wrench strain is a recent purchase from Green Bae Collective that I was super eager to try, mostly because it was such a great deal. I’m not usually the biggest consumer of sativa strains but at a 1/2 ounce for only $60 I was instantly sold. Allen Wrench is a cross between Trainwreck and NYC Diesel, both strains I’ve tried separately but never in a hybrid form. Allen Wrench takes the best of its parent strain’s qualities and provides a whole new experience that is both mentally and physically satisfying.

Upon first glance, this bud looks strangely similar to moonrocks. They’re little popcorn nugs closely packed and coated in trichomes. The density is comparable to moonrocks as well. That said, Allen Wrench isn’t the easiest strain to break up with your hands, however, it isn’t impossible. A grinder is recommended if you’d like to keep the powerfully potent kief. This bud is darkly colored, almost completely orange in certain lighting. The dark green and orange are completely meshed in this mesmerizing looking bud. The nugs are all various popcorn shapes and sizes with a few outliers being larger than normal. The Allen Wrench cannabis strain is coated in a thick layer of frosty trichomes. Allen Wrench is a bit sticky but not to the point where your fingers will come away sticky after handling it. This bud is pretty high quality just from the first visual inspection.

A popular strain for sativa-lovers, Allen Wrench presents the best qualities of its parents, Trainwreck and NYC Diesel with crisp flavors of sour fruit. Trainwreck is a mind-bending hybrid with potent sativa effects. NYC Diesel is a mostly Sativa hybrid that has won 9 different cannabis cup awards. Typically, this Sativa strain is used as ‘wake and bake’ medication to start off many medical users’ day full of energy. Allen Wrench is a surprisingly mellow sativa dominant hybrid that earned a place in my top rankings for sativa dominant hybrids. Allen Wrench made it easy to be productive and get things done while still providing that relaxation and sense of calm that I enjoy from consuming cannabis. I found myself working through my to-dos while managing to take several naps whenever I felt the fatigue beginning to hit. I used Allen Wrench multiple times a day, throughout the day to see if it’d affect me differently at different times. It was very consistent in the high that it provided. It was never too heavy or heavy enough to induce sleep unless I was already tired before consuming.

Overall, Allen Wrench often left me feeling like I wanted a bit of an extra oomph. It was like having just a sip of water when you’re dying of dehydration. It’s enough to satisfy you in that moment but quickly proves to be insufficient. An experienced cannabis consumer like myself with such a high tolerance could benefit from using Allen Wrench in conjunction with other strains to create perfect harmony. It’s still worth the try, especially for newcomers to the cannabis community. Let me know how you like it down in the comments!
