Over the past few years, the Wedding Cake strain has provided so many great strains to the cannabis world. Every shelf in my dispensary seems to have at least 3-4 different variations of the Wedding Cake strain that are all usually lovely. On my last trip to my local dispensary, I found another hybrid derived from the Wedding Cake in the Punch Cake from Sticky Budz out of Washington State, for $21 USD a gram. Now, to give you a little strain lineage background, the Punch Cake is an Indica-Dominant hybrid that crosses Wedding Cake with Purple Punch and from what the budtender told me, she’s a potent and tasty treat.
I decided to go with my Goldstein Fritted Disc Bubbler for this session and my first impression of the Punch Cake wax was that it appeared to be more of a Badder than a sugar wax which I wasn’t too disappointed about. At first glance, the Punch Cake had a beautiful golden-yellow color and once I opened the jar I could smell her delicious notes of diesel and grapes. When it came to consistency, I was easily able to grab a nice sized dab and once it made contact with the quartz banger, it was blast off time. This Punch Cake was not only heavy as I could feel her right away but she was so delicious. Her gas and fruity notes lasted on my tongue well after exhale and had me wanting more. As for the stone, I was ripped after one good dab so this is definitely not for the rookies. I wouldn’t call this a couchlock stone but I was hammered and didn’t get too much done. I did notice the Punch Cake was great for taking away my stress and anxiety along with my chronic neck and back pains so this is definitely a good medical strain that goes a long way.
Overall, the Punch Cake was a total winner in my book. When it came to her taste and pungency, the Punch Cake delivered a wonderful bouquet of sweet grapes and jet fuel which lasted on the palate for quite a while, so for that reason, I gave the Punch Cake a score of 9.5/10 making it one of the top taste scores I’ve given this year. Now in terms of strength and potency, the Punch Cake had legs and kept me nice and stoned for a solid two hours and relieved my ailments so I had to give her a score of 9.3/10. All in all, the Punch Cake was a force to be reckoned with and I absolutely recommend it for anyone and everyone looking for a good time.
