Certain strains of cannabis have an interesting way of bringing me back to specific moments in my life almost the exact same way a song does. My first memories of OG Kush take me back to my late teens sitting outside of my connect “Bogey’s” house in the San Fernando Valley waiting for him to come outside and deliver us the finest chronic in all of the SFV. Another strain that returns me to a great moment is LA Confidential which reminds me of my first trip to Humboldt County and buying a half-ounce of the LA Con at a shady medical dispensary. They were some of the finest buds I had ever laid eyes on and I will never forget that moment. The reason I bring this up is I found a new hybrid the other day named Cascade Connie in the form of a Live Resin for $17 USD a gram from Headstash aka Amber Brick out of Washington State that had a magical way of returning me right back to NorCal and the memories of this potent dank that was the LA Confidential. To give you a little lineage background, Cascade Connie is an Indica-Dominant hybrid that was bred by Western Cultured, also out of Washington State, that crosses the famed G-13 with LA Confidential and the results are said to be an Indica that is “Cup” worthy.

Now at first glance, the Cascade Connie was absolutely beautiful. Light golden, it was almost clear to the eye as it shined like brilliant diamonds in the Sun. Upon a closer look, it was just one massive rock that almost looked a tad dry like a crumble but with more shine. As soon as I opened the jar, I was taken back to smelling the bag of LA Confidential back in Humboldt and my eyes instantly opened and my smile began growing from ear to ear. This was the exact funky diesel and skunky grapes that I recall from my Northern California expedition. I was like a kid in a candy store as I could not wait to taste her. I decided to use my Toro Glass Bubbler and as I dug my nail into the resin I found it to be a bit crumbly but I was still able to grab a good dab. As soon as the glob hit the quartz banger, I could instantly taste the heavy lemon and earthy flavors along with the skunk that stayed on my tongue well after exhale. The skunk and diesel notes were so delicious and so reminiscent of my days on the Trinity River smoking the LA Confidential. I was truly baked after one dab and felt it from head to toe. I wouldn’t call this couch-lock material but pretty darn close as the Cascade Connie gave me a heavy narcotic fade that took away all my pains but still allowed me to somewhat focus on some “Ancient Aliens”.

At the end of the day, the Cascade Connie Live Resin was a great sample that took me back to a wonderful time in my life and provided me an awesome stone at the same time. When it came to her taste and pungency was up there with anything I’ve tasted lately but again, I may be a little bit biased due to nostalgia. I absolutely loved her heavy bouquet of lemons and skunky coffee that tasted like old school LA Confidential so I gave the Cascade Connie a score of 9.6/10. When it came to her strength and potency, the Cascade Connie was heavy duty and gave me some wonderful back pain relief so I gave it a score of 9.2/10 as she could have been a bit more devastating but my then again, my tolerance is massive. Overall, I absolutely enjoyed the Cascade Connie Live Resin and would definitely recommend you grab some if you happen to see it on a shelf near you.
