Grape Ape is an Indica-dominant strain that packs a fruity and floral bouquet of aromas as well as a strong dose of THC. I’ve never gravitated towards Indica strains, mainly because I’ve developed an affinity for Sativas, but on rare occasions, I’ll grab a couple of grams of a budtender-recommended Indica strain.

Grape Ape is a work of art. Stare in awe at the dark violet colors found throughout Grape Ape flower buds. My favorite aspect of the Grape Ape strain is its solid and intoxicating effects on the mind and body. Grape Ape can be uplifting and relaxing at the same time providing users with a balanced high that’s ideal for watching movies or while getting ready to go to sleep.

A Powerful Indica Hybrid

Grape Ape was originally bred by Barney’s Farm and Apothecary Genetics. Its genetics are debated, but most growers believe that Grape Ape is a cross between Skunk #1 and Afghani strains. Some argue that there are some Mendocino Purps genetics in there, too.

Many consumers often confuse Grape Ape for other purple-hued strains with a berry aroma. Don’t confuse Grape Ape for another similar strain like Granddaddy Purple. Granddaddy Purple’s look and effects are similar to Grape Ape’s, but Grape Ape is a strain that exhibits unique aromas and relaxing effects.

Grape and Berry Scents

Most Grape Ape strains will feature a prominent grape-like aroma with a hint of berry sweetness. It’s fruity flavor pairs well with more earthy and skunky undertones. As a potent Indica hybrid, Grape Ape has a relatively high concentration of myrcene that has a spicy scent and woody flavor.

Grape Ape’s aroma is equally as intriguing as its aesthetics. Look out for hints of lavender and an organic hash smell. Grape Ape’s most abundant terpenes include:

  • Myrcene
  • Caryophyllene
  • Humulene

Dense and Purple

The Grape Ape buds I’ve had have featured distinct dark-purple tinges that almost look black. Orange-brown hairs are sprinkled throughout the buds. Grape Ape’s deep violet hues surround the dense flower buds. Some users have reported noticing shades of red in certain Grape Ape varieties.

Smoke Grape Ape and Chill

Indicas are known for their powerful stress-relieving and sedating characteristics. Grape Ape is the quintessential Indica strain. Whenever I smoke Grape Ape, I’m relaxed and worry-free. THC levels can range between 15 to 25% with higher-than-average CBG and CBC levels, two minor cannabinoids that may contribute to Grape Ape’s mellowing effects.

Many users like to use Indicas to relax after a long day of work or during their nighttime routine. For me, Grape Ape provided a smooth and stoney experience that can be tamed by taking low doses. I’m mainly working indoors at home, so it’s a perfect strain to relax and enjoy at home alone or with friends.

Grape Ape is one of the most photogenic strains on the market. Its large buds make for excellent bag appeal and moderate-to-high concentration of cannabinoids keeps users coming back for more. Check out the Grape Ape strain for powerhouse Indica effects. Depending on your tolerance, Grape Ape may cause couch-lock and good vibes.
