Rather than trolling dispensaries looking for cannabis-infused gummies, why not make your own cannabis-infused gummy bears at home?
Making your own cannabis-infused gummy bears can be a great way to have a portable medicated snack that is discreet and easy to take anywhere on the go. They’re tasty, easy to make, and only require a few ingredients and tools to get started. Keep in mind this is only one of the few ways to make cannabis-infused gummies. You can try using cannabis-infused coconut oil if you prefer, but for this recipe, we will be keeping it simple by using a tincture.
For this recipe, we’re using mango puree. Mangoes are a delicious tropical fruit that is rich in vitamins A, C, and B6! If you’re allergic or just don’t like them, you can use whatever flavor is your favorite. Strawberry, pear, or even pineapple would all be awesome choices. Any juicy fruit that’ll produce enough puree for your gummies would work perfectly.
To make the mango puree, you’ll need:
- 3-4 ripe medium to large sized mangos
- 3 tsp lemon juice
- 2 tbsp sugar
- 1 cup of water
- A blender or food processor
- A cheesecloth or strainer
First, peel and cut 3-4 ripe medium or large-sized mangos into equal chunks small enough for a blender. You can also use a juicer for this recipe and you’ll be able to skip using the cheesecloth or strainer to separate the pulp from the juice. Place the mango chunks into your blender along with 3 teaspoons of lemon juice, 2 tablespoons of sugar, and 1 cup of water. Blend until smooth. Strain this mixture through a cheesecloth to separate the pulp from the liquid. This can also be done using a fine mesh strainer or sieve. This will last in the fridge for 2-3 days. You can use any leftover mango puree for parfaits, smoothies, or as baby food!
MANGO CANNABIS INFUSED GUMMY BEAR RECIPE
For the recipe, you’ll need:
- 2/3 cup mango puree (or your favorite fruit flavor)
- 1-2 gelatin packets
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- 1/3 cup water
- 2-3 tsp cannabis tincture
- 1/3 cup granulated sugar (or less)
- Gummy bear shaped silicon molds
Start by combining the mango puree, water, and lemon juice in a medium saucepan and cook on medium to low heat until lightly bubbling. Add 2-3 teaspoons of your chosen brand of cannabis tincture to this mixture. The amount depends on how potent you want your gummies to be.
Slowly add in 2 packets of gelatin, continually whisking until dissolved into the mixture. We’re using 2 gelatin packets because I like my gummy bears with a bit of body and texture to them, but if you’d prefer them softer you can use only 1 packet. Keep in mind they probably won’t withstand heat very well with less gelatin to hold them together.
Remove the saucepan from the heat and allow it to cool for about 5-10 minutes before pouring into a clean gummy bear shaped silicon mold. You can buy these on Amazon and they come with a dropper that makes filling the molds super easy! Once the gummy bears solidify, toss them in 1/3 cup of granulated sugar to keep them from sticking together.
