Every so often, I come across a strain I’ve never heard of. For me, it’s like being a kid in a candy store. I always love trying strange, new and interesting flavors and that was the case the other day as I came across a new sugar wax called Burmese Kush by 710 Reserve aka MJ Botanicals out of Washington State that I had to try. Now from what I can tell the Burmese Kush is a hybrid, bred by TH Seeds, that crosses old school Burmese with OG Kush, creating a true 50/50 hybrid that is said to be very calming. Now at first glance, the Burmese Kush Sugar Wax had a beautiful caramel color and seemed to have a nice creamy look to her. It actually looked more like a live resin than a sugar wax.
I decided to use my Toro Glass Bubbler and as soon as I opened the jar to the wax, I was a little disappointed with the lack of fragrance. I could smell a slight earthy tone but not much in the pine department which I was hoping for. As I placed my nail into the wax, I was happy with the consistency as it was a lot like peanut butter and very easy to work with. I grabbed myself a decent sized glob and as it hit the quartz banger I was thrilled with the smooth vapor it provided but there was almost a complete lack of flavor. Other than a minor hint of pine, I really didn’t get much in the way of terpenes. As for the stone, I found it to be light and lacking and took me two dabs to even feel faded. After three hits, I would say I was stoned but much more energetic than I prefer. I found myself playing backgammon and feeling happy but nothing in the way of pain relief or relaxation. At the end of the day, it felt as if I was smoking mids. Now at I price point of $15 USD a gram, I wouldn’t be so disappointed, but I’ve been finding quality wax for $12 a gram, so this was a bit of a bummer.
Overall, the Burmese Kush just didn’t have the flavor and pungency that I look for in a sugar wax so I had to give it a score of just 6.0/10. The lowest flavor score I have given in some time for any strain. As for the strength and potency of the Burmese Kush, I was left wanting. I didn’t feel very stoned and didn’t get the pain relief I desire in a sugar wax so I gave her a score of 6.4/10. I’m sure there are better samples of Burmese Kush to be had, but I would steer clear of this stuff as It just didn’t live up to my expectations.
