Crown OG is a great indica strain I picked up from “church”, otherwise known as Mother Mary Jane’s in Hollywood. Crown OG was part of their daily deals and I was able to get 7 grams for $40. Crown OG is a super dank bud and great deal for the money. Crown OG is an indica strain that stays true to its OG roots with a sweet pine aroma and potent euphoric effects. While Crown OG may take a toll on your memory and cognitive sharpness, its crushing THC content is perfect for patients suffering severe pain or insomnia. This strain took 1st place in the 2015 High Times Denver Cannabis Cup as “Best Indica Concentrate,” earning the victorious stripes its name sets forth.
EFFECTS & USES
Crown OG leaves consumers feeling relaxed, sleepy, hungry, and social. This strain is great for relieving stress and issues concerned with mood disorders like depression. Crown OG is perfect for kicking back and relaxing with some friends during the evening. Crown OG’s high creeps up slowly, sometimes taking several minutes after users have finished toking to show itself. When it does arrive, the high initially manifests as a pressure around the eyes and temples. I noticed I got a headache oftentimes after smoking this strain, which may mean it’s not for me, but it may not affect another person the same way. In high enough doses, couchlock and sleep can be expected with this strain. It’s more appropriate for nighttime than morning or afternoon use.
Crown OG’s strong, almost narcotic effects can have benefits for medical cannabis patients as well. It can relieve even stubborn cases of insomnia with its sedation. It may also relieve aches and pains, whether temporary, as due to injury, or chronic and nerve-related, as due to conditions like lupus or fibromyalgia. Anti-inflammatory effects can soothe everyday irritations like headaches.
APPEARANCE
The nugs are fluffy and slightly dense. They are sticky but not enough to cause the weed to clump together after being broken up. The bud is bright green with orange pistils. Flowers of Crown OG are only small to medium in size, but cling together in dense buds that resist users’ attempts to break them apart. The nugs are spade shaped, tapering down from a broad base into a pointed tip. The leaves of these dense flowers are a mossy green and are wound through with curly orange hairs (which are actually pistils, meant to catch pollen from flowering male plants). A blanket of cloudy white trichomes gives this strain a silvery sheen and accounts for its psychoactivity, as well as its sticky texture.
