Banana OG is an indica dominant hybrid made from the cross of OG Kush and Banana Kush. With a smell and flavor of overripe bananas, this hybrid definitely earns its name. Banana OG has tested at over 25% THC and has a reputation as a creeper. Despite my abrupt hunger when using Banana OG, I found the resulting high to be relaxing, calming, anxiety reducing, and sleep-inducing. Banana OG isn’t the best for a wake and bake but is absolutely perfect for a before bedtime sesh.
LOOKS + SMELLS
Banana OG’s nugs are quite large and beautiful. Wispy dark green and orange-haired nugs are what came packaged in the containers. My initial thought on the smell is that it smells like banana. It’s a mild scent like a banana smoothie. It is pleasant and not at all overwhelming. This is coming from someone who isn’t the biggest fan of banana or banana flavored/scented things. The bud is dense but not too tough to break up with hands. This bud isn’t sticky and is coated in glittering trichomes and kief.
WHAT IT DOES
Banana OG is a great strain to share with friends for a chill smoke sesh. It encourages an uplifted mood and relaxation coupled with that nice little burst of energy. I would recommend this strain to anyone dealing with insomnia issues as it helps immensely. Once the energy dies down, Banana OG prepares you for a restful night’s sleep. While some high-tolerance users can handle the strain’s relaxing effects throughout the day, I wouldn’t recommend this strain to a rookie or first-time user. As with all strains, start with a lower dosage and work your way up. You can always smoke more, you can’t smoke less.
Medically, Banana OG can be used to combat pain, stress, depression, lack of appetite, arthritis, ADD/ADHD, hyperactivity and insomnia. There are many more pros than cons with this strain but one of the main issues I have with this strain is the immense cotton mouth. It’s ridiculous. Pro tip would be to keep a bottle of water on hand if you plan on giving this strain a shot.
WHERE TO GET IT
Green Bae Collective is a delivery service bringing dank strains to the South LA area. I got 12g Banana OG for $60 from Green Bae Collective. This was a special particular to me because they were out of Snowcap and I wanted to try both originally. As a compromise, I got a little extra of Banana OG. You can find delivery services near you using the Weedmaps app as well as services like Eaze or Leafly. Overall, I didn’t think I would like this strain as much as I did. It was the name that enticed me, but the effects have made me somewhat a fan of this mildly fruity hybrid. This isn’t a strain to grab when you’ve got things to do but rather when you’re winding down for the day or just need a bit of time to zone out and relax. Banana OG is a must try for indica lovers!
