Named after San Francisco’s red-light district that started after the Gold Rush of 1849, Barbary Coast Dispensary offers medical and recreational cannabis users an upscale experience in a welcoming and comfortable location. Its modern Victorian design features wood ceiling beams, exposed brick walls, maroon leather seating, red velvet wallpaper, and dark wood accents throughout. Located in the thriving and bustling Mid-Market district, Barbary Coast Dispensary is close to the Yerba Buena Gardens, San Francisco Museum of Art, and the largest IMAX in North America at the four-story Metreon shopping center. No medical recommendation is needed to buy products, but there’s a minimum $40 purchase requirement to access the dab bar and lounge. Barbary Coast Dispensary also offer weekly patient education days and specials on flower.
Dispensary
Barbary Coast Dispensary & Lounge opened in 2013 to much acclaim. At first a medical-only dispensary, Barbary Coast has come to cater to recreational patients starting in January 2018. Anyone over the age of 21 (with a valid ID) can shop for top-notch cannabis products and receive expert product recommendations.
Barbary Coast has a large selection of high-quality products including flower, concentrates, pre-rolls, topicals, edibles, pre-filled vape cartridges, and accessories. Best of all, every product is independently tested by Pure Analytics lab for potency, quality, and consistency to meet state compliance and ensure customer satisfaction. That means customers are not consuming any pesticides, molds, heavy metals, solvents, or other harmful substances.
Dab Bar
Customers can try their product on-site in the adjacent dab bar outfitted with quartz eNails on SkyGlass rigs. Quartz is a strong and durable material able to withstand hot temperatures over time. Quartz was also chosen because it doesn’t alter the flavor of the concentrate. Dab rigs are cleaned regularly to ensure customers can taste the unique flavor of their dabs. Customers can opt to dab in their solvent-less stations to dab the highest-quality concentrates available.
Lounge
If you’re not dabbing, the cannabis lounge lets you hang out with your friends and smoke in a booth or table. Customers can rent a Vapexhale EVO desktop vaporizer and other smoking equipment. While you can’t smoke tobacco or outside products inside, you can enjoy your Barbary Coast cannabis products. The lounge features maroon booths designed after booths in San Francisco’s original and legendary Alfred’s Steakhouse.
Stained glass light fixtures hang from the ceiling. Sports are regularly showcased over five HD screens. No photos are allowed to maintain a safe and comfortable space for everyone. A state-of-the-art ventilation system limits smoke inside. The lounge also has free WIFI, magazines, and happy hour deals at the dab bar. A 30-minute time limit is enforced.
Service
First-time customers check-in at the front where they can sign up for a loyalty program, receive a special discount on the first visit, all via a sleek POS system. Customers enter the main dispensary area decorated with intricately-designed rugs and wait for an available budtender behind the velvet rope or sit on comfortable, leather couches. Once called, customers can look through a leather-bound menu or receive personalized recommendations on their digital menu.
