NY SKUNK STRAIN REVIEW

NY Skunk is an exclusive indica strain that hits consumers with its potent aroma and effects. You don’t need to take a trip to New York to grab this great strain either. Local dispensary Mother Mary Jane’s Church carries the dank strain in their exclusive line of indicas. When you’re looking for deep relaxation and have no solidified plans for the day, NY Skunk is the strain to go with.

ORIGINS

As indicated by its name, NY Skunk hails from the Big Apple and slowly but surely has made its way from coast to coast. An educated guess would suggest that one of the parent strains of NY Skunk is Skunk No. 1. The Skunk No. 1 strain is a hybrid strain that’s been parenting potent Skunk crosses since the late 1970s. Using diverse genetics from around the world, breeder Sacred Seed Co. originally bred Skunk No. 1 in a process that spanned several generations. Afghani, Acapulco Gold, and Colombian Gold come together in an intricate breeding process that resulted in the genetic cornerstone of countless cannabis hybrids.

APPEARANCE & AROMA

NY Skunk is an incredibly dense bud with tightly packed, large sized nugs. The bud itself is a mixture of dark and pale green with a few smatterings of dark orange pistils. The nugs are lightly dusted in a coating of trichomes, giving it a dewy look from afar. A grinder is recommended for this bud due to its super sticky and dense nature. It’ll be much easier and quicker to break down this strain with a grinder. The scent of this bud is characteristic of every potent indica strain: diesel and dank. Consumers concerned about discretion should be aware of this pungent smell and take proper precautions when using this strain. As its name suggests, parent strain Skunk #1 buds radiate with an aromatic blend of sour skunkiness and subtle earthy notes. The same is true for the NY Skunk strain, which originally enticed me with its not so subtle aroma.

EFFECTS & USES

The NY Skunk strain leaves consumers feeling sleepy, lethargic, happy, relaxed, euphoric, and creative. Due to its anti-inflammatory properties, the NY Skunk strain would be great for consumers looking for a strain for pain relief for migraines, headaches, minor athletic injuries, and even chronic pain issues.

GROWING INFO

Cultivating your own NY Skunk plant might prove difficult for novice growers. The NY Skunk strain can grow to be up to 78 inches in height. An average plant will yield about 3-6 ounces per square foot. The flowering period of this strain is quite long: 10 to 12 weeks.
