Formerly known as The 420 Games, The Civilized Games, promises a day full of athletic events geared towards cannabis-loving athletes. Cannatheltes can participate in a variety of sport events, art competitions and Q&A sessions with cannabis experts.
While cannabis isn’t cleared for use by all professional sports leagues, there is promising legislation for athletes using CBD. The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) which regulates the Olympics among other professional sporting events allows for CBD and a small amount of THC – less than 150 nanograms per milliliter of carboxy-THC, a cannabis metabolite, in competitive athletes’ urine samples.
Luckily, casual athletes and wellness enthusiasts over the age of 21 don’t need medical recommendations to start experimenting with adding cannabis to their routines. Learn from other cannatheltes and explore new products at The Civilized Games.
According to the event’s website, The Civilized Games is a chance to bring together cannathletes and normalize the use of cannabis as part of a wellness-based and athletic lifestyle. Studies suggest that both THC and CBD can aid in pain management and athletic recovery.
Start the day with a yoga class at 9:30am then head to the main event – a 4.20 mile Fun Run/Walk beginning at 10am. The run goes from the archway in Venice to the Santa Monica Pier and back. This kick-off event is one of many fun, sports-related events throughout the day. Sign up online and receive a finisher’s medal or t-shirt and a chance to win two tickets to the Civilized After-party.

The Civilized Games will take place at the Venice Skatepark, 1800 Ocean Front Walk, Los Angeles, CA on Saturday, June 22. The event is free to attend but tickets are required for the 4.20 Fun Run/Walk. All attendees will be entered to win a pair of VIP After-party tickets.
